Rachel Schultz’s Empathy Map
I’m part of a team developing an online degree intro psychology course for fall delivery in our Interdisciplinary Studies department. For this activity I focused on what students have been telling me in similar online courses about the course content, interactions with each other and the professor, and assessments. We hope to use the course to engage students in practical connections of course materials with real world events – after all, psychology is a user’s manual to being human. Themes that were apparent to me after completing the map were things such as professor interaction, passive/active learning, workload, and possible opportunities to really connect with students through use of strategic examples, images, and links to resources.
