I talk about infographics in class, so thought I’d use this Ontario Extend activity to create another example for students to engage with. I adapted a Canva template so we can talk about the infographic in a few ways, like in terms of…

  • its content (why technical communicators need research skills)
  • its visual design (what’s effective? What would you change?)
  • its difference from the original template (as a springboard to discussion of copyright, plagiarism, and originality in academic and real-world work)

The content of this infographic is geared towards technical communication professionals, recognizing that students aren’t quite there yet. Because they are applying for co-op jobs, they’re keen to understand how skills set them apart in the job market.
