In my professional network, ResearchGate and LinkedIn are the 2 most used platforms for connecting to others in the field. With ResearchGate, scholars/researchers connect to each other based on common interests/area of research and I find that valuable. I can connect to people that I know and see who they know, but I can also look for connections with strangers who share an interest in the same topics that I do.
