In an effort to help learners retain information and improve their understanding, I no longer use PowerPoint in presentations. I have been using a modified open source mind-mapping tools produced by tiddlywiki. The tool operates in a browser and requires the curator to create a visual map of the information.

Each map consists of nodes and links. The links are self explanatory; then connect related information. The nodes are much more powerful; you can insert text, sound files, video files and links as well as word and pdf files. Once you double click on a node, it open up to reveal it contents.
