Scholar Activity #1
The three fundamental characteristics of SoTL are around: asking questions, gathering evidence, and drawing conclusions that support (or not) the questions that were initially pondered. Having an insight into this scholarship process allows for continual improvement about whether we as instructors are able to successfully engage with our learners.
Some of the motivations for using SoTL concepts are focused on:
- Improving retention and use of learning material by students;
- An increase in student engagement
- Fostering a more collaborative environment within the classroom by getting input from students on their perspectives
