I’ve chosen an image of a retail service provider as my teaching metaphor.  I do consider teaching in higher education as providing a service.  Our students are our customers and we, in exchange, provide them with a quality education to broaden their thinking and open up opportunities.  My goal is to provide the best quality service I possibly can.  This doesn’t always mean giving them what they want… but giving them what they need.  In education, the customer is not always right… but our goal should still be to provide the highest quality service in our means.
