This module made be excited to teach this fall, if I get the opportunity.

At the core of why I wanted to teach was student engagement which has been extremely low.  I felt I had tried to do a good job of not being just a boring lecturing teacher but what every I have done has not a been enough to lure students to attend class.

Perhaps because I never approached the problem in a systematic way or maybe its because I never clearly defined the problem that I missed many actually easy to do things to try to solve the problem.

For example, simply ask the class.

I am excited to move through my plan and see what works and what does not.

The basic plan is:

Week 1 – discuss with class what I need to do to engagement them to come to class etc..   Include a survey.

Week 5 – attendance taken

Week 6 – do one of their ideas

Week 7 – in class group assignment   (do they respond better if they have to do something in the class)

Week 8  – flip the class room

Week – 9 – fun lesson (prepare a fun interactive lesson…. Let them know the week before – see if they know they are not walking into something boring or same ol same ol motivates them).

Week 11/12 – another class discussion.

The dissemination strategy will be to summarize my findings and email them to the EEP team and my business team.

The only additional research I think might help enhance this project would be to research if there are better alternatives to try each week that might increase the chance of success based on research already done.  This might increase the success rate as opposed to the trial and error method I propose.

I chose the picture attached because it is a perfect example of what I see as an efficient and effective classroom.  In this picture you cannot identify who is the student(s) and who is the teacher.    Everyone is learning from everyone.  Everyone is a teacher and a student.
