The point of making metaphors/analogies isn’t to find the perfect one–it’s to make new knowledge by reflecting on how things are similar and dissimilar. It’s the process, not the metaphor itself, that is useful. So, I didn’t choose the “perfect” concept or object to compare my teaching. Instead, I challenged myself to make connections between my teaching philosophy and a thing I love. That way, I get to see each thing from a different lens, which allow me to appreciate them more deeply and all the more. 🙂
