The Collaborative Dining Table
Describe each person you worked with:
All the people involved were from the same school in our institution.
We shared our ideas about how to assess students’ writing remotely given the emergence of AI and how to ensure students learn effectively.
All of us had teaching experience but approached assessing student writing in different ways, enriching our conversation with diverse perspectives.
We learned from each other’s varied experiences, contributing to a rich discussion.
Despite sharing a common background in teaching, each person brought unique insights and methodologies to the table.
Modes and communication tools used for collaboration:
All of the communications tools used for these meetings worked well, especially Zoom.
Patterns and gaps identified:
While collaboration within the same institution proved fruitful, the inclusion of perspectives from other schools and programs across the college would have provided valuable outsider views.
Additionally, another perspective that was noticeably absent was that of someone working at the intersection of AI and writing assessment.
