Two points in this article really resonated with me.

First Point: Ask faulty which topics they want to learn more about

This is critical as many faculty are busy and most have already completed many professional development sessions.  I think this is essential to promote participation and leads to experiences that are more rewarding for everyone involved.  Faculty will also feel that the institution is listening and responding to their needs.

Second Point: Make it an active learning experience

I believe that it is essential that instructional designers model best practices and active learning falls in this category.  Participants are likely to enjoy the experience more and retain more as well if active learning is utilized.  The incorporation of active learning techniques will also allow participants to reflect on whether similar techniques can be used in their teaching as well.
