Three Keys of SoTL That Resonated
These are the three characteristics of SoTL that resonated with me:
- Viewing teaching as an experiment and the syllabus as the hypothesis (the assumption that how I teach the syllabus leads to effective learning); then examining the outcome (to see if the hypothesis is proven true)
- SoTL starts with my perspective of T&L and asking intelligent, consequential questions before a set of practices can be used to investigate the T&L and answer the questions
- Doing SoTL makes me a better teacher in ways that reading other people’s articles doesn’t, because it gets me closer to it.
