Deconstructing components of a skill and the concepts associated with mastering a skill is called activity analysis in the field of occupational therapy. In the Foundations of Occupational Therapy course here at Conestoga College, the first lab is to analyze the steps involved in “Making a Peanut Butter Sandwich” to illustrate the need to carefully analyze each step of an activity if we want to be able to teach that activity or skill to our patients. Looks like the “Exact Instructions Challenge” Youtube video might be a very appropriate and enjoyable addition or replacement for this year’s remote activity analysis lab.
