I teach research to international students, and the research is related to the issues in the Canadian healthcare system. In our first class, we are doing a course outline scavenger hunt so that students can understand the course concept, what they will learn, and how they can apply it in their future careers. This course allows them to explore different issues in the healthcare system and brainstorm solutions; it helps them to stay up-to-date and links them to different career opportunities in the healthcare system. Also, they are able to understand the standards and requirements to enter the healthcare system in Canada and the Canadian research field, obtain required certifications and prepare necessary documents. Moreover, we have essential workshops with our college career advisors and alumni (successfully working in a healthcare setting) and networking events with potential employers from the healthcare sector who navigate our students to success.
