Relating the course learning outcome to their potential profession and work environment is important for the students’ learning and engagement.

At the beginning of the semester, I let my student know after successfully completing the Human Resources Management for Industry course you will learn:

  • The basic employee rights as the course explores the employment laws and regulations (i.e. Employment Standards Act, Employment Equity, Pay Equity, Human Rights, etc)
  • As the next supervisor/manager/leader you will know human resources programs, policies and procedures and how they should align with organization’s strategy
  • The best practices of Recruitment and Selection – this will assist you to find job opportunities and as well as hire the best talent
  • Human Resources management functions such as performance management, total rewards, and the importance of working and creating safe and healthy environment
  • How to partner with Human Resources to retain employees with high potential and performance
  • HR challenges (i.e. maintaining good culture, employee moral and productivity) and opportunities with global organizations
