WIIFM Activity
1. Five WIIFM from a student’s perspective.
“What’s in it for me?” is a question that most student often ask themselves when they are learning in class. From the student’s perspective, these WIIFM aspects include:-
- Relevance of the course content to the professional skills;
- Value of the knowledge acquired in the industry;
- Curiosity to learn new knowledge;
- Professional Experiences and Encounters of the lecturers;
- Professional and Career Interests in he course
2. Using my discipline (Tourism Management), five strategies that i can design to use to motivate learners.
- Providing foundational theoretical and empirical knowledge on the course/ lecture (To stimulate their conceptual and analytical skills as well as value of knowledge acquired in class);
- Designing Appropriate Applications (Varied Participatory Methodologies and Skill-based Projects for students to stimulate their interests and creative skills as relevance of course content to skill development);
- Connecting the applications, projects and knowledge acquired to real life case examples globally (Case studies to stimulate Professional Encounters);
- Give Personal experiences and encounters in my career (To build more Professional interests on the course)
- Asking the students to share their views and expectations (To build rapport and develop social and relational skills)
