On the first day of class I ask my students to write down the primary reason they chose our program, then crumple up the paper.  Then they stand up and throw their paper across the room.  They are encouraged to walk around the room, pick up one random paper, and mix and mingle to read the answers aloud.  This gets them to chat spontaneously about WIIFM in an anonymous way while meeting classmates.  Frequent answers are: Employment rate, subject matter and ability to make positive change.
