WIIFM (Researching Career Options)
I like the reminder to reframe to the student’s point of view. Restating how the activities are useful or their importance as stepping stones towards the end goal explicitly may be beneficial to create student ‘buy-in’ for all parts. Skipping over some steps is common to meet minimum grades on the assignment; however, the student often has to circle back to the missed steps for the next activity, finding a field placement or a job. The earlier they understand the relevance, the likelihood of engaging increases and not just I want them to 🙂
