  • Using some of the metaphors from In Mastering the teaching of Adults (Apps, J. (1991). Mastering the Teaching of Adults. Malabar, FL: Krieger Publishing Co., pp. 23-24), I see myself as both a travel guide and a challenger.  As noted in the vectors assignment, I love to assist people on their path of learning and their understanding of key concepts but in order to help strengthen their learning, I challenge their understanding of the concept to extend their learning and have them analyze or apply critical thinking skills and so they feel they have ownership of the information and can apply their understanding with confidence.  The more a student can manipulate the idea and their understanding, and apply it to academic and or life situations, the greater their ability to apply it.
  • With hope, like depicted in the image I generated below in Canva using the media maker and attached , my students feel safe and supported enough in their learning by my teaching approaches and feel that they can use the information and skills they’ve developed to navigate their future learning and career paths, continue to grow professionally,  and challenge themselves such that they become a guide to others within the profession or community at large.
  • The educational journey is initially shared together, with purpose and direction to find the path forward through the challenging terrain until, the student feels confident to lead the way forward on their own.
