The best metaphor my teaching is that of a gardener who challenges learner’s assumptions and help them see Math in a fresh way. To enjoy and think mathematically and critically about the world.  I hopefully do this by cultivating an environment that nourishes the mind, enhances the climate of learning while removing the preconceived notions about math and the other weeds that impede the learner’s moving forward.  Then I hope to stand back and allow growth while continuing to fertilize and nurture the environment and student.
