I taught an Introductory Linguistics course last year. It was the first time the course was delivered entirely online. As such, I created a welcome video to help maintain a social presence as the instructor. Additionally, I used the screen capture feature to walk students through the course website, show them where to look for information, and access the weekly modules. I recorded myself on a Zoom call while using the screen sharing feature. I then used Adobe Premiere to edit. It also helped that I prepared a script on MS Word and displayed it on top of the screen (near the camera). The script’s location helped make it look more natural as I spoke; practicing reading the script a few times also helped!
