Course Challenge
I used the snipping tool to take a screenshot of the padlet entry regarding my course challenge. Given this term is online, I have spent a great deal of energy trying to connect with students through many creative ways. One of the requests is that they turn their videos on when we are learning synchronously. Out of students, I may get that will. This is upsetting and honestly makes our classroom (virtual) feel very isolated and lonely. At this point, I have asked for volunteers to be chat monitors and that requires their video and mic on. This has been helpful but what this means then is that I actually will not have faces to almost 80% of my students. I believe through collaborative discussion with others that I have a plan for next term. I am going to create a schedule where I assign 10 students each week to have their cameras on. I am hoping this will help ease the shyness. I also am going to include a video intro to see if that makes them more comfortable being on video. I have to admit that it is somewhat difficult to understand the lack of participation for this due to the fact that many have social media and seem to be in front of their cameras often enough. For now though, this will be the next plan
