This would be a great overview resource for my students and a great place for them to start their research. This textbook ties in themes from other courses in their program, and hopefully would help them to connect various themes together. I would list this etext as a resource for case 3 and encourage the students to use it as a jumping off point for their individual research between classes.

As students in my course are doing group- and case-based learning dependent on their own learning needs and personal areas of inquiry, the curated resources in this course are not necessarily mandatory or useful for everyone, they are jumping off points for research, personal discovery, and reminders of what has been learned in the past. I appreciate textbooks for this type of learning, as it points learners back to the foundation in a factual way, and encourages them to connect these facts to what their case client is or may be experiencing, which helps them to form better hypotheses and deeper learning connections. I don’t want to provide them with the research that they should be doing on their own, but pointing them back to the foundation by way of a free well-written textbook is a great option.
