Cultivating or Culling My PLN
This activity was a bit challenging for me because at the moment I have mixed feelings, especially about using Twitter and growing my PLN that way. In fact, I have been actively working to cull it more than grow it, but I also think that the ‘culling’ process does contribute to cultivating it into something that is more useful and beneficial. By being more deliberate and selective, you are less likely to miss posts from people who you really want to learn from. There are fewer distractions and less chance of being bombarded with the ‘white noise’ of certain echo chambers that can form in the education field. I have learned to be more ruthless and more frequent about using the ‘unfollow’ button. The visual representation I have shared for this activity includes a list of the various channels I use to grow my PLN as well as some of the “rules” I use to decide who makes the cut! 🙂
