Teaching new professors how to write learning outcomes can be challenge! Because writing learning outcomes something I do all the time, I definitely have blind spots with regard to the knowledge required to write good learning outcomes. Using Mindmup, I have documented some of what might be considered foundational knowledge for writing learning outcomes.

I’ve also included the very important category of “Examples” because unlike driving a car, writing learning outcomes may not be an activity that new professors are even aware of. Everyone know what a car is and that cars are driven by people (for now!) as a means of transportation. However, many new professors are not familiar with learning outcomes and how they are used in education. Providing good (and poor) examples of learning outcomes helps me overcome my blind spots.
