Throughout the Project Procurement course, we use buying a car to illustrate key concepts in project procurement.

I believe the three resources meet the CRAAP criteria even though the third one was last updated in 2001 (Community Transportation Association of America. (2001). VEHICLE PROCUREMENT. Retrieved from University of Kansas Transportation Center: https://kutc.ku.edu/sites/kutc.ku.edu/files/docs/pdf/rtap_vehicleproc.pdf ).  The key aspects of buying a car have changed and using this resource as the final of three help the students to understand the project procurement process by relating it to a familiar, significant personal purchase.

This course is part of a graduate certificate program where all the students have some combination of previous post-secondary education and work experience which may or may not include project management and/or procurement. So my challenge in curating materials is to find different levels — for beginner, intermediate and experienced so that all the students can understand the key concepts.  I often use Wikipedia articles to provide the student a high-level overview and the basic vocabulary so that they can then understand and learn from more advanced materials.  Sometimes, the Wikipedia articles provide more advanced understanding and other times, I don’t use the Wikipedia article because, as I now realize, they don’t pass the CRAAP test – even though I just learned about the CRAAP test..
