I had selected incorporating different browsers/databases as a means to provide more online resources for students to practice accessing a variety of content.

Students expressed that they would like more resources to test and try out.  Since this is an online setting, many students were interested in gaining hands on experience.  However, I wanted to introduce bioinformatics tools which would provide them with a chance to build a different skill set.

My aim was to introduce students to a broader set of resources that may be of interest.  For instance a student who is interested in plants/agriculture I selected a subset of databases/browsers geared towards this area.  However, for students interested in another area (e.g. proteomics), I provided information about different resources.  If the student was interested in a particular area they could delve further.  This provides students with more options to try new tools!

An ongoing concern expressed by many students is the challenge with managing a number of commitments in addition to school.  To address this challenge, I have included many browsers/databases as optional resources.  While some are required to complete the assessments, others can be viewed during their own time.

I am continuing to search for updated and current tools to incorporate in my lectures and assessments. I have added a link as an example.
