For a course such as Event Operations, students learn how to set up event venues, set place settings and serve guests in a structured manner.
For this, I often use the example of ‘it’s like driving a car’ with my students. I can teach you from a manual of how to set up an event, however, it will be a lot more challenging when you really do apply hands-on skills on setting up for an event, as there are many external variables to count for and also your skillsets that matter whether you will be able to complete the task on time or will you need more time or help.
Hence I first orient students with the topic through an online module that they go through and participate in some online activities created, then the next week, we cover the same topic in person in class and use the skills learned in the module and apply it on a hands-on approach.
