I must say, it has been interesting to complete this response using a mind map which visually depicts concepts and their interrelationships in a non-linear way. I feel I’ll create these for my courses as  it not only benefits the students but the teachers too with such a great overview and how things are connected.  The concept of “backwards design” has always stuck with me since doing my MA.  One of the key ideas of Understanding by Design (Wiggins and McTighe) states that there is a delay in  the planning of classroom activities until goals have been clarified and assessments designed.  With clear learning objectives/outcomes within our course, the priorities are clear, activities can be designed and goals can be clarified between the teachers.
