I think the main thing a good teacher does is make connections and foster the ability for others to make connections. Depending on the particular teaching/learning context, that could mean connections between people, groups, ideas, bodies of knowledge, etc. I also like this image because it signifies that not all connections are equal. A rewired toy won’t work if the wires don’t join up properly. Education should help people see the connections that work and the ones that don’t … it should make it more possible for them to participate in and shape the world by thinking critically, testing things out, and sharing information and ideas.
