Evaluation using CRAAP:

Currency- Although the cornerstone study in this field was decades ago, she continues to add to this field of knowledge with recent publications, some of which are discussed in the TED Talk.

Relevant- One good thing about TED talks is that they are designed for a general audience, so students don’t feel overwhelmed by the technical specifications like they would in many other types of academic talks (e.g., conference presentations). So yes, it’s at the right level and relevant to my intro psych students.

Authority- Yes. Both the speaker (Loftus) and creator/publisher (TED Talk) are reputable in academic circles. Loftus continues to be invited to give keynote addresses at academic conferences.

Accuracy- The speaker is clear/grammatical and supports her claims by peer-reviewed published research (her own as well as others’)

Purpose- The purpose is to explain how memory works/its limitations, specifically as it relates to eyewitness memory. There are no evident biases.
