I truly believe the most important thing we can do for students is to show them how the activities in our courses will make a difference in their lives (and go beyond the delivery of course content). It is the difference between being able to learn simply from a text (and have an overall concept of knowing) versus learning holistically and bringing our human selves to the table so that we can explore content on many other levels.

I find more value in my own practice when my students are engaged and see the value of the activities being undertaken.
