The thesis funnel

This actually took me a long time to find and wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. When teaching thesis writing as part of essay writing I like to draw an inverse triangle to show students they are going from a general attention grabber to a very specific thesis. The concluding paragraph follows the opposite pattern.
Searches on the suggested sites didn’t return what I was looking for – essay and triangle, thesis, thesis and triangle, essay and thesis brought up different categories of the wrong things in each different site (everything from maternity photos to architecture). Eventually I moved on to using terms with funnel and this is the closest I could find to what I was looking for
