At work I lead a project to reduce rejection from stringing machines. These machines are highly automated. The Japanese manufacturer had gone bankrupt and these machines were declared obsolete. However due to budget constraints we had to continue operating these machines. For this A cross functional team was established with a mandate to find ways to operate these machines at 100% capacity with near ZERO defects.  Using a formal (IT, Dashboards and web portal) as well as informal communication network (in-person 1:1, Huddle and scrums) the team monitored the process and took corrective actions to prevent rejections. All process trends were monitored using SPC and using the communication network corrective adjustments were made to keep the process centered – running at 100% capacity without defects.
