I teach research skills in one-off library workshops, so the list of WIIFM from a student perspective relates to success in the course and preparedness for the workplace.

In the classroom:

• Learning research skills can make the research process quicker and easier (save time and effort!)
• Conducting thorough research contributes to success on research assignments

In the workplace:

• Learning research skills is important for success as a business professional. Making business choices based on poor research may have a negative impact on a business – and making choices based on thorough research may have a positive impact
• Employers often look for candidates with digital skills, including online research
• Gain familiarity with business research sources that are often used in industry
