Professors – both new and experienced – question whether attending a workshop on rubrics is a good use of their time and don’t see the value of rubrics for their teaching practice. Fortunately, there is a long list of answers to WIIFM? And most professors are swayed by one or more of these answers to learn about rubrics. After creating a simple rubric for one assessment in one course in the workshop, professors are often eager to add rubrics to their teacher toolbox. My answers to WIIFM are listed in the attached document.
