This was an interesting exercise.  I had never heard of Cornell notes before, but I can certainly see its value.  I will likely use this again, and will share it with my students when it’s appropriate.

Reconciliation

It was great to practice this note taking skill and to ensure that I am looking for key themes/ideas when listening to a video or attending a class. I’m a big fan of the Cornell method and will try to use this more, particularly in meetings.

Literacy is not enough

Cornell notes for success

I have never actually taken notes this way, but often see my daughter doing this.  I really liked it, certainly organized my thoughts and helped me process and retain the information.

Cornell Notes – Listening

With online learning, it is imperative that our learners are listening to what is being said. In the traditional classroom, we can supplement listening with body language but remove that and we rely completely and listening (via asynchronous or synchronous). In both delivery, what is being communicated should capture the filters that block listening.
