Extend from my Office
Sitting in my office, looking at my clutter, I am trying to think what extend means to me. Without getting too philosophical, I think it’s the extension that happens outside of the classroom and carries on into the real world. Even though I try to model projects on real world problems using actual data, there are times when you need to take the theory and apply it in new ways. There may not be a syllabus and step by step instructions how to do this, it may be challenging and confusing. but with the ability to think outside the box, and develop research skills, anything is possible. So when I think of extend, its not just limited to content, but that learning that happens next, which will come in handy once the students finish and go off into the world with the confidence that they can solve anything with a little elbow grease and google.
