Orthopedic Assessment and WIIFM
An orthopedic assessment course can be a challenge for some students. It is a lot of new information that required previous knowledge and it is foundational to working with the public in clinical placements. What is in it for students? Consider:
- The course provided important knowledge and structure for an emerging therapist
- Assessment links the client’s complaints with how to treat them
- Assessment is essential for clinical work
- Being competent in assessment allows for success in the provincial Entrance to Practice exams
- The course allows peers to practice in a safe environment
- Students can work together on authentic cases (things they will see when they are out in practice)
- Students can get timely feedback on performance with appropriate time and space.
