An orthopedic assessment course can be a challenge for some students. It is a lot of new information that required previous knowledge and it is foundational to working with the public in clinical placements. What is in it for students? Consider:

  • The course provided important knowledge and structure for an emerging therapist
  • Assessment links the client’s complaints with how to treat them
  • Assessment is essential for clinical work
  • Being competent in assessment allows for success in the provincial Entrance to Practice exams
  • The course allows peers to practice in a safe environment
  • Students can work together on authentic cases (things they will see when they are out in practice)
  • Students can get timely feedback on performance with appropriate time and space.
